Q: What does it mean by switching of funds?

A: Switching is basically a Sell and a Buy order. In some cases, investors may like to use one fund to purchase another fund. By doing a switch, you do not need to wait till you receive your proceeds to effect a purchase.

* Please take note that the fees incurred for Intra fund house switches may be lower as compared to Inter fund house. Do consider this option before you execute an Inter fund house switch.

Q: How do I switch?

A: If you wish to switch from one fund to another, you can execute a Switch order under the "Transaction" tab. This section will describe two kinds of switching.

1. Intra switch: A switch to another fund within the same fund manager.

2. Inter switch: A switch from one fund manager to another.

A: Intra switch

Intra switching is subject to the switching fee as pre-determined. The information is stated in TRANSACTION-> FUNDS SALES CHARGES -> SWITCHING -> INTRA FUND HOUSE

Inter switch

Switching comprises of two processes: a sell transaction for the fund that you are invested in and a buy transaction for a fund that you want to invest in. Switching into a fund is not free-of-charge and investors have to pay for redemption fees, if there are any applicable to the switch sell fund, as well as the sales charge imposed on the switch buy fund. The information is stated in FUNDS INFO-> FUNDS SALES CHARGES-> SWITCHING-> INTER FUND HOUSE

Q: What form do I need to submit for EPF switching order?

A: You need to submit the In-House switching form. The form is downloadable at Transactions > Forms. A FIMM Pre-Investment form is required if it is a switching into a new fund.

All EPF Intra Switching will only be processed after FSM receives the complete documents. Switching order will be processed on the same business day if all required documents are received before 3pm. If the documents are received after 3pm or a non business day, orders will be processed on the next business day.

EXCEPTION: For fund switching under the management of OSK-UOB Unit Trust Management Berhad and OSK-UOB Unit Trust Management Berhad - Smart Series Funds, you need to submit In-house Switching form and a Master Application form.

Q: What is the minimum initial investment of the fund I wish to switch into?

A: The minimum initial investment amount will apply if you are switching into a fund that you do not own. If you already have units of the fund that you are switching to, the minimum subsequent investment amount will apply.

As the switch buy order will be transacted after the switch sell order, you need to ensure that the redemption amount from the switch sell, based on the latest indicative bid/NAV price, is at least 105% of the minimum initial or subsequent investment amount of the fund you are switching into.

For example, if you want to switch out of Fund A and into Fund B, and Fund B has an initial investment amount of RM1,000, you need to ensure that the switch sell of Fund A, based on its latest indicative bid/NAV price, will generate at least RM1,050 worth of proceeds. This is so that if the actual transacted switch sell price of Fund A is lower than the latest indicative bid/NAV price, there is a buffer to ensure that the minimum initial or subsequent investment amount of Fund B can be met.

Our system will prompt you if the amount is insufficient.

Q: How long will the whole Inter switch process take?

A: The switch-sell order will be transacted on the same business day the order is received provided the order is received before 3:00pm. Otherwise, the order will be transacted on the next business day.

The switch-buy order will be transacted based on the lag time as described in the table shown at FUNDS INFO-> FUND SALES CHARGES-> SWITCHING-> INTER FUND HOUSE. However, this lag time will be shorter than executing the sell and buy transactions on your own.

NOTE:

The whole process of an Inter switch will take four business days to complete after the transaction date (T) of the switch-buy funds ie T+4 business days.
