To start the new year with a big bang, the Fundsupermart magazine has now gone regional! The all-new regional edition will now be available in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. In line with the magazine’s regional presence, the content has been revamped to provide more insightful and relevant reports and articles from a wider perspective. The Fundsupermart magazine has been published since 2001 in Singapore and it has garnered a strong following from investors and industry players.
To celebrate the launch of the magazine in Malaysia, we are glad to announce that the first issue will be given FREE to our existing account holders. New investors, with a confirmed account at Fundsupermart.com will also get a latest FREE copy of our magazine.
In January 2009, the Fundsupermart magazine was launched in Malaysia at RM15 per copy. Our cover story of the 1st quarter of 2009 issue is “What and Where to Invest in 2009”, which includes two key sections: a detailed result of the What & Where to Invest in 2009 poll from fund houses and the 2009 Fundsupermart Houseview by our in-house research team.
In the annual What & Where to Invest in 2009 poll, we surveyed 21 fund houses and financial advisers from Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia for their views on the following:
- When the Economic Recovery Will Take Place
- Preferred Asset Class (Equities or Bonds)
- Favourite Regional Market
- Favourite Asian Market
- Favourite Investment Theme/Sector
- Most Overweight Bonds Class
- Most Overweight Currency Position
Our poll showed several surprising results, while restating some consensus views. A broad summary is as follows:
- The global economy is expected to turn up in the second half of 2009
- Bonds edged equities as the most preferred asset class
- Asia ex-Japan is the most favoured regional market, followed by the US
- China is the most favoured Asian market
- Infrastructure is the most favoured sector
- US investment grade bonds are most favoured within the bonds class
- A large majority of the respondents have an overweight position in the US dollar (USD)
In a departure from the poll findings, our Research Team favours equities over bonds in 2009. But we are on the same page as the poll respondents when it comes to our favourite Asian market (China) and most favoured bonds class (investment grade bonds). Read these and more interesting insights in our “Fundsupermart’s Houseview 2009” report.
