All three major developed markets, namely the US, Euro and Japan, have registered strong total returns of 9.81%, 15.99%, and 10.86% respectively on year-to-date basis (as at 23rd June 2017, and in USD term). Many of us may be asking the question if the developed market equities have more room to run in the second half of 2017. It is a legitimate question because on one hand, we foresee the global growth to slow down in the second half of 2017. On the other hand, we continue to see massive liquidity inflow amidst low inflation, which has reduced volatility of assets and perceptions of risks. At CIMB-Principal Asset Management, we expect this conducive environment for risk assets to persist. Yap Chee Ken holds the Capital Market Representative (CMSR) licence from the Securities Commission of Malaysia, and has over 16 years of experience in the financial services and asset management industry. He provides investment support and services to retail distributors, and speaks on investment-related subjects to both internal customers and investing public. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (USA).

Fundsupermart Research Analyst

Wei Yine is the Research Analyst of Fundsupermart Malaysia. Currently, he is responsible for covering Thailand and Indonesia markets. His other responsibilities include analysing funds, rebalancing investment portfolio, and conducting regular presentation to retail clients and financial advisers. Prior to this, he was a business development executive at a financial advisory firm. He graduated from the University of Nottingham with First Class Honours. He is currently a 2017 Level I candidate in the CFA® program.
