Seminar on Asian REITs and Commodities

have we missed the party on commodity equities?

Commodities have made a comeback in 2016 after 5-consecutive years of laggard performance. Concerns over slowing China’s economy were overblown and supply curtailment for some commodities began to bite moving into 2016. Along with better investor sentiment in 2Q 2016 and 3Q 2016, we began to witness some decent recovery in prices from the trough for hard metals as well as precious metals. Moving forward, while commodity prices continue to find balance between the supply and demand forces, what are the hidden opportunities within the commodity market?

In this upcoming client seminar, Mr Jason Lee Wei Chung, Chief Executive Officer of Libra Invest Berhad will shed some light on the outlook of the global commodity market.

will asian reits continue to shine?

Asian REITs were among the top performing markets over the past 3 years as market players went on the hunt in search for high yielding assets against a backdrop of interest rate drought. While we expect global growth to pick up in 2017, yields across various assets are on the rise on the back of rising US Treasury rates.

Mr Darren Saw, Senior Fund Manager, Equities of AmFunds Management Berhad will be sharing some of his thoughts on how will Asian REITs fare under an economic growth environment along with expectations of rising risk-free rates.

Revival of Commodity as an Asset Class - Can it last?

Synopsis: Commodities has been a dirty word in the investment community since the crude oil crash in 2014. Despite a valiant recovery last year, commodities as an asset class for investment has continued to be challenged by skeptics. While the cycle is generally so much shorter now, we believe we are in the early stage of a recovery cycle that can continue to surprise on the upside. Stock picking and timing will remain key success factor given the volatility of the sector in general. Jason will also show in more details the fund’s sector exposure at this point in time to take advantage of the market.

Asian REITs: Stability through Real Estate Investments

Synopsis: Most Asian investors have a strong preference towards property/real estate investment as it can offer capital appreciation, rental yields and is a hedge against inflation. However, it can be illiquid and challenging to dispose. How can investors enjoy the benefits of property/real estate investing while, at the same time, avoid liquidity risk? Find out more in this seminar.

Asia Pacific: A New Chapter

Synopsis: After much surprises in 2016, economic activity is projected to increase in 2017. But with a shifting global economic landscape and political uncertainties from the Brexit and US Presidential election, what does 2017 hold in store for Asia Pacific? Find out more in this seminar.
